There is a love/hate relationship with summer. Do we agree?
We love those long hot nights and getting out of the house to catch up with mates for a few drinks. We love spending our days at the beach, trying to get that all-important tan we long for all year. I mean, who doesn’t rate the overall summer vibes?
But on absolute stinker days like today when it’s 39 degrees, all we want to do is basically die and sit in front of the aircon all day.
And the hot weather ain’t stopping, with the first couple weeks of summer living up to its expectations.
I don’t know about you, but I plan on making the most of this weather and here are a few things that are happening in Adelaide (mainly at night) so that you can still enjoy the summer.
Where: Adelaide Botanic Park
When: 8th December – 17th February
What better way to spend a summer night then by watching a movie in the outdoors?? I mean sounds pretty good to me! The Adelaide Moonlight Cinema is coming to our parklands this Saturday night and it is something that you must experience! With the weather really warming up, it is the perfect setting to relax and enjoy something on the big screen. Running for over two months, there are plenty of films on show, including hit new releases as well as cult classics like Love Actually, Elf and Dirty Dancing (you can never see these too many times). They provide nibbles and drinks for you to enjoy, but you can also bring your own snacks and bevvy’s and have a whole feed on your picnic rug. Beanbags are also provided in separate ticket packages with premium viewing spots! So, if you wanna snag the best seats in the house, that’s the place to be. For the full program and tickets/packages, head on over to their website.
Ebenezer Night Markets
When: 8th December – 9th March
Where: Ebenezer Place
Time: 5:30pm – 10:30pm
Markets are the perfect way to wind down and relax after a long hot day! Located in the vibey East End, in the heart of the city, the Ebenezer Night Markets are no exception and brings life to one of Adelaide’s favourite destinations. So, whether you’re wanting to get cute little gifts (either for you or someone else), have a good feed, listen to some live tunes, or simply just walk around and take in the whole atmosphere, this is the market for you! With around 40 stalls to browse from, you are sure to make a cheeky purchase somewhere, and there’s nothing better than a good market bargain! But it only runs for 10 dates out of the whole three months, so make sure you get your butt down there! For more info and to keep up to date with all the latest news, visit their Facebook page.
Lucky’s Beach Club
Where: The Maid Hotel
When: Monday-Saturday, 12pm-late Sunday, 12pm-8pm
A little slice of the Hamptons has returned to the suburbs of Adelaide’s. We all go to the beach when it’s hot but wouldn’t you love to experience how the ‘other side’ live? Well, no need to have to travel to the shores of Miami or Greece, cause Lucky’s Beach Club has you covered. Just off of Magill Road, The Maid Hotel has once again transformed their carpark into an epic Hampton’s inspired beach club! And let me tell you the pics you can get there are definitely insta worthy, so it’s a no brainer! A perfect way to spend those balmy nights with your favourite people, and boogie the night away. I know what you’re thinking, I need to get to this place, right? Don’t stress because it runs until the middle of January so there is still plenty of time to get down there! They also hold a number of events and theme nights, so go and head to their website to check out more!
