Remember when you were at school and you were asked not to bring a peanut butter sandwich for lunch? Well compared to that minor inconvenience, actually living with a food allergy can present all sorts of challenges to those suffering and their families. With Food Allergy Week having just wrapped up, it’s worth looking into the issue and what ways there are of working around it. We spoke with Sydney mum Kerri-Ann about her journey of having a son with severe allergies, and how she overcame the struggles to ensure he is eating safe foods. Dietitian Frances Walker, who specialises in Food Intolerance and Food Allergies, also gave us a few insights.
