For years the GST (Goods and services tax) has been a hugely contentious issue throughout Australia.

Various sanitary items, including tampons and pads, have carried a 10 per cent tax, while items like condoms have been exempt from the GST. In early October, Governments around the country agreed to exempt these, and a range of other items, from the tax, with the change expected to be fully applied by January 2019.
