Easter is not too far away, and what better way to celebrate early then visit the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company, which is having its grand opening this weekend.
Located outside of Tanunda, the Barossa’s newest tourist attraction is surrounded by vineyards and a lake, as well as having a wine paring in the cellar door.
The Barossa Valley Chocolate Company CEO Chris Day and his wife Sandy travelled 100,000km around the world to sample the best chocolate experiences.
“The world-class Barossa Valley Chocolate Company has been inspired by the very best experiences from across the globe, from Bariloche in Argentina, to Napa Valley in the USA and the Chocolate Line in Bruges, Belgium,” Sandy said. “Much of what you see in store was inspired by our travels, like our chocolate wall that was inspired by the inimitable Venchi Cioccolato e Gelato in Florence,” Sandy continued.
“When my children were young, we regularly travelled to Margaret River and visited their famous chocolate company. They were some of our most cherished memories, so we are proud to now bring this same type of experience to local and visiting families to the Barossa for the first time,” said Chris.
Chris and Sandy, alongside their Head Chocolatier Amy Sajinovic and her team of local chocolatiers from the Barossa and Adelaide, have worked hard to create a range of more than 250 products for chocolate lovers. Over the last 12 months, they have undertaken taste testing with 2,500 South Australians to develop this delicious range, including the new ruby chocolate which was only discovered 13 years ago and has only been available in Australia since September 2018.
“There will be something for everyone, from watching chocolatiers making the artisan, handmade chocolate through the wide, expansive viewing windows in the retail area, to chocolate-making classes in the special experience room, and a specially curated chocolate and wine pairing experiences in the cellar door,” Sandy said.
The Barossa Valley Chocolate Company will officially open its doors for all you chocolate lovers on Saturday, April 12th.
