As much as the annual Tour Down Under plays a vital role for South Australian tourism, us locals can’t help but become completely exasperated with the countless detours and traffic conditions that inevitably ensue.

So what good does come out of this cyclist’s event? One word: food.

What better way to kick off the start of each year than with a week-long celebration of all the best things Adelaide has to offer. The weather is beautiful, the sun relaxes its set time to prolong the evenings, and Prospect, Hyde Park, Glenelg, Campbelltown and Norwood all shut down their streets in favour of lively, culinary-filled street parties.

Tuesday January 20, 2015 saw the return of the Unley Gourmet Gala. Adelaide is not always used to the streets teeming with goers on a weeknight, but each year this event delivers.

It highlights everything that Adelaide is about: friends and families enjoying one another’s company, a delectable and highly diverse array of food, the BEST wine in all of Australia on show, and talented local acts performing live. One of the bands featured were Adelaide up-and-comers “Jupiter Creek”.

If you missed it last night, don’t worry! It’s only Wednesday and we’re still only halfway through their massive calendar of events. The glass is definitely still half-full!
