Nakatomi – Wooden Castle
This last week on The Jump, old friends of Fresh, Nakatomi, have returned to share with us their latest release. Currently dominating the Adelaide, AND Australian, live music scene, it seems like now was the perfect time to officially drop Wooden Castle, the duo’s first original track in almost a year.
The banger is a neon-drenched electro jam that sounds just like the cover art looks, but was inspired by something way more organic: a redwood forest in San Francisco. Yep, they visited the natural wonder as part of their trip to the USA, and “we were a bit inspired by the ambience of it,” vocalist Emily Smart says. Now that’s artistic conceptualisation.
In a bit of a change of pace for the musical pair, they started this song with the lyrics, and tried their hands at free-writing. “We built it from there and put a beat behind it,” adds the other half of the duo Hamish Cox. Naturally, it turned out great and we’re blasting it through our airwaves. Listen to the full chat with Caroline Tucker and the song below!
