If you have not yet had the pleasure of seeing Peking Duk live, then I’m sorry to break it to you, but you’re bloody missing out!

Currently on the home stretch of their ‘Biggest Tour Ever’, our fave Aussie techno duo took to the stage at Thebarton Theatre last night and absolutely killed it!

Walking into the theatre and seeing the incredible stage and light set-up, it was hard not to think that we were going to be in for a rippa night.

For this current tour, the boys took inspiration from the film Jurassic Park, and the stage was covered in a sea of leaves, resembling the jungle-like nature of the classic franchise. Along with this, there was a massive backdrop of the pair’s skeleton faces that shone under a piercing red light.

But then the coolest thing happened. We were in sudden darkness and loud sounds of thunder and rain surrounded the hall. Then before we knew it, Hollywood lights glared at our eyes whilst the Universal Studio theme song played in the background. Yep, you better believe it, we were entering Peking Duk’s own Jurassic world.

Adam Hyde and Rueben Styles sure know how to put on a show. The performers insane energy was infectious and influenced the crowd on another level. Their high level of interaction and chilled vibe made you feel as if they were your long-lost mates, skulling beers in the middle of the show, paying each other out, and telling stories about Adelaide we can all relate to all too well.

Now, if you haven’t seen them live before, like me, you’ll be in for a shock. These two boys from Canberra can literally do E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. They can play the electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, electronic keyboard and sing whilst still being their cool and goofy selves. Talk about having many talents!

Mixing pop, electronic beats and insane ballads, they took the crowd on a rollercoaster of 115 minutes of quality music. They played their classic hits like Take Me Over (2015), High (2015) and Stranger (2016), as well as recent tunes such Sugar and Ur Eyez.

Supporting the duo was Sydney rapper Kwame, and singer Kira Puru, who each gave stellar performances that amped up the electricity and overall energy of the crowd. Special guests also included Chris Sebastian (Guy Sebastian’s brother), and epic vocalist Michaela Baranov.
