His first single Gecko was so hot that – after hearing it – Tiesto immediately signed Oliver Heldens to his Musical Freedom label. Now the teenage Dutch prodigy has released the official video for his follow-up track, Koala. If you woke up this morning wanting to see a man pruning a tree with a samurai sword, then getting all kung fu with a bloke dressed up as a leaf; this is the video for you. You also catch a few glimpses of our beloved animal icon (albeit in stuffed toy form in a distinctly Japanese setting). It’s not just about the video, though. This is an amazing track. It features the same tight production as Gecko, but Koala ramps up the energy and delivers one of the most infectious bass lines of the year. You can hear this track in the morning, and still be moving to the bass over your dinner. The breakdowns build a great suspense, which works perfectly with the martial arts and swordplay of the video. Check it out below, and keep watching this space for more outstanding music from Oliver Heldens. If he and his mates keep this up, we’ll need a whole new page devoted to Dutch producers!
