We have a big stockpile of new tunes that have come through over the Easter break, and lucky for you, they are pretty bloody terrific.
Avicii Feat. Aloe Blacc – S.O.S.
The family of late Swedish producer and DJ, Avicii, have started rolling out songs on his behalf. The song from the album he was working on was said to be 80% complete before his passing last year. The only additional production needed was vocals to the track, which were supplied by American singer, Aloe Blacc, who also worked on Avicii’s 2013 hit ‘Wake Me Up’. All proceeds from the album ‘Tim’ (Avicii’s real name) will be donated to a mental health foundation set up in his honour.
Peking Duk Feat. Al Wright – Ur Eyez
Peking Duk (aka our favourite duo from Canberra) have released a suuuuuper sugary feel-good tune, ‘Ur Eyez’. They’ve also paired up with Al Wright, a singer from the Blue Mountains and a front-man for indie band Cloud Control.
So we have a new tune to appreciate, but when can we fawn at its beauty live? Well, I’m glad you asked, because you can see them live TONIGHT. Yep, they’re heading to Thebarton Theatre AND there’s still tickets available. Grab them here.
Meduza Feat. Goodboys – Piece Of Your Heart
Meduza, an Italian production trio and Goodboys, an English production trio (yes, six magnificent brains made this song) have come together to create the uber-catchy ‘Piece of Your Heart’. The spoken intro to the drop is actually a recording of Goodboys member Josh suggesting what would become the drop for the song. The dance anthem has also hit the golden #1 in the UK charts knocking off Pink’s ‘Walk Me Home’, which has been sitting at the top spot for 5 weeks.
Don Diablo Feat. Jessie J – Brave
Dutch DJ, Don Diablo has provided the groundwork for English singer Jessie J’s voice to absolutely shine. While Diablo produces very popular tunes, he is also an extremely charitable man and uses his talent for great work in the community. On his European tour last year, he donated all his ticket proceeds to the Dutch Cancer Society, who research potential cancer cures and provide care for patients. Kudos to you, Diablo.
Kolidescopes – Focus
Attention Adelaide: we have a new duo on our hands. Adelaide artist Yeah Boy and UK producer Dan Dare have combined to create Kolidescopes. Their song, Focus, is (shockingly) about getting your shit together and focusing. Yeah Boy was also formerly part of the duo Parachute Youth who gave us ‘Can’t Get Better Than This’.
Martin Garrix Feat. Macklemore And Patrick Stump – Summer Days
Okay, all I needed from this song to approve it was the delightful plucky bass guitar riffs (aka heaven). Martin Garrix has absolutely nailed ‘Summer Days’, and there’s a super surprising genre cross over with Macklemore and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, which has totally worked in Garrix’s favour. Things are also looking consistently good for Garrix’s career after topping the last three DJ Mag Top 100 DJs polls. Now all we need is for him to make his way to Adelaide and I can live the rest of my life in peace…
