When L D R U and Yahtzel get together, we call them Carmada. When they release a track like “Maybe”, we call them gods. Okay, maybe that’s a bit extreme, but this is one of those songs you don’t get sick of. It starts out as gentle and delicate as a summer breeze, then smashes you in the face like cyclone full of bricks. It’s soulful and brutal all at the same time, and it definitely passes the banger check.
The duo, comprised of Drew Carmody (L D R U) and Max Armata (Yahtzel) will feature as part of the Stereosonic line up this year, which is another reason to be excited about Stereo’s. Their sound has been getting serious attention from some of the biggest record labels in the world, and it’s easy to see why. You can officially add Carmada to the list of Aussies who are smashing it in the world of electronic music.
We can’t wait to hear what they come out with next, and the same goes for a few other notable names. Skrillex, A-Trak, Diplo and What So Not have all been quick to praise the work of this exciting duo. Their full-on schedule of festivals and tours looks set to continue for the foreseeable future, but we’ll be sure to bring you their next set of tracks (as soon as they get a long enough break to hit the recording studio!).
