The Snapchat maps feature; it’s an interesting addition. Giving users the ability to see where your friends are at any time. As you would expect though some people are concerned about the new feature and what security risks it might cause.
According to Snapchat, a study taken at the start of the year found 158 million people are using Snapchat daily and on average, open the app 18 times a day. That’s a lot of people who potentially are sharing their location information at any one time.
Holly talks with some of the public about their thoughts on the new feature and with social media communications professor Colette Snowden from the University of South Australia about the potential safety risks that it opens people up to and why Snapchat would create a feature like this. Her concern is that “I’m not sure if people understand the implications” Listen below to find out what those implications are.
