Our favourite Adelaide tune // 13.11.2017
Kuji Koo – Fortitude (feat. Ollie English)
They’ve played for Luke Million, they’ve supported our Producer’s Series winners, Hartway, they’ve just played at Root Down Festival, and now Kuji Koo are here on The Jump. Seriously, just take a quick look at their Facebook page and you’ll see just how much cool stuff they’ve been getting up to. We’re calling it now: they’re the next big Adelaide thing.
Lucky for us, they’ve found time in amongst it all to drop their debut original single, Fortitude. Straight outta the ol’ smart phone voice memos, the track, featuring Ollie English, was born from a basic melody sung over some synth chords. “Ollie heard it and he just went, ‘I wanna sing on that'” says Logan, one half of the duo.
The hip-hop-influenced dance tune is about “a love-hate relationship— constantly asking yourself, or asking the other half, how they feel about you,” adds Logan. What does it sound like? Think Disclosure meets Kaytranada meets Anderson .Paak. Yep, it’s a groove. Listen to the full chat with Caroline Tucker and the song below!
