K21 – Greatest Living Nightmare

It’s no secret that electronic music and hip-hop music are the perfect pair, and can meld together seamlessly. DJs have been preying on the concept in clubs, like, forever, and the sound has made its way into many the hit single (think Kanye West, and Hilltop Hoods). That’s why this week on The Jump, we’ve got something a little different for you: K21‘s Greatest Living Nightmare.

The track is the Adelaide local’s first single to drop from his upcoming (and long-awaited!) album, Any Given D-Day, due out later this year. It’s a massive Adelaide collaboration, with some of K21’s closest mates featuring in the band, because, well, they just all happen to be award-winning musicians. I know, right?

It was produced by another yet Adelaide act, Trials, and “as soon as I heard the beat I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it,” K21 says. “Rap doesn’t need to be big and bravado all the time,” he adds, “you can show a bit of a vulnerable side and a bit of a personal side.”

Oh, and the music video won an award at the Chicago International Film Festival – no biggie. Check it out, and the full chat with Caroline Tucker, below!
