On the verge of launching his new album Omniversal NZ beatsmith Opiuo has released a free download in the form of his sick new track Sneakers. As you’d expect from one of NZ’s most up to date and up and coming producers this one has quality written all over it and it bodes well for the album too. It’s got a phat chunky bass that sits at the forefront of the track with layers of electro beats and robo vocals banging along over the top. It’s infectious and catchy but at the same time groovy with a touch of funk.

With gigs at the likes of Coachella and Glastonbury under his belt the boy ain’t keeping it small and his previous LP 2014’s Meraki  took out the coveted Best Electronic Album at the New Zealand Music Awards. The man himself has a huge a tour lined up for Australia in the coming months and you’ll be to catch him at Fat Controller on Friday 9th.
