We’ve had KLP in the studio a fair amount over the last few months, but we’ve never managed to get her behind the decks… until now.

Ahead of her Adelaide gig on her KLParty tour, we got her in the mix to take over Fresh Drive for a full half an hour! The ‘House Party’ host went full house on this one, throwing Motez, Riva Starr, Soulwax and Nicky Night Time into her set. It’s the perfect mix for a Friday pre-game or a laidback Sunday session – listen to the whole thing on Mixcloud, and scope some photos below.

KLP, for the uninitiated, is one of the most talented and hard-working people in the industry. In addition to her own musical output as a solo artist, she’s a renowned singer, songwriter and producer who’s made tracks with What So Not, Young Franco, Slumberjack, and Terace over the past twelve months, to name a few. As a DJ, she’s toured nationally several times over the last year or two and rocked the stage at Splendour In The Grass back in July. Also, in her down time, she hosts a weekly national radio show on Triple J, and occasionally steps up to fill weekday shifts as well.

All of which is to say that it’s a miracle we managed to get her involved in our Producer’s Series. Somehow, she found the time to team up with Luke Million and James Curd to mentor two local Adelaide artists and help them develop a finished track in the Oscar Nine studios. You can hear one of them here, and the other one is coming very, very soon. She also spoke about the recording process, the music industry as a whole and how she operates within it at the Fresh Air Open House: Producer’s Series Forum.

So, yeah, we don’t mind a bit of Kalpers. She doesn’t have any more Adelaide dates lined up in 2015 as yet, but if that changes, we’ll let you guys know!

For now, here’s some more photos from her visit to the Fresh 92.7 studios:
